Subsidy on manufacturing of computer components extended for 3 years
It has been proposed to extend the value added tax-VAT exemption for computer parts manufacturing industry for another 3 years with the aim of building Smart Bangladesh and developing information technology and computer industry.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal proposed to extend the tax exemption facility for this industry till June 30, 2026 in the proposed budget in the National Parliament on Thursday afternoon.
These products include - computer printer, toner laptop, AIO, desktop, notebook, notepad, tab, server, keyboard, mouse, barcode or QR scanner, interactive display, RAM, PCBA or motherboard, mobile phone charger and battery, power bank, Router, network switch, modem, network device or hub, speaker, sound system, earphone or headphone, SSD or portable SSD, hard disk drive, pen drive, micro SD card, flash memory card, CCTV, monitor (not more than 22 inches), Projectors, printed circuit boards, writing pads, USB cables or data cables, digital watches, various types of loaded PCBs.
The finance minister has proposed to extend the period of existing concessional facilities at the level of local production of these products till June 30, 2026.
In his budget speech, he said, 'In order to attract domestic and foreign investment, create employment, produce import substitute products and maintain the ongoing dynamics of domestic industrial development, I am presenting a proposal to bring necessary amendments including providing and maintaining tax exemption facilities in the employed sectors.'
